How to prevent blockage of stainless steel heat exchange tubes?
By: mxgy,
Stainless steel heat exchange tubes use thin stainless steel tube walls as a “runway” to allow the cold and hot media to transfer heat in a separated space. Its tube wall adopts an ultra-thin wall design, thinner than even a straw, but more sturdy than it.
Preventing blockage of stainless steel heat exchange tubes requires interception from the source (three physical lines of defense):
1、 Filter screen control
Install a filter with a diameter of ≤ 1mm at the entrance to intercept fiber impurities such as hair and flocs. It is recommended to use a double-layer filter (coarse filter+fine filter) for seawater/sewage scenarios.
2、 Water quality pretreatment
High hardness water sources (>150mg/L) must undergo softening treatment to prevent scale formation. Add a cyclone desander to media with high sediment content.
3、 Pipe mouth protective cover
Immediately seal the inlet and outlet with silicone blind plates during shutdown to prevent insects, rodents, and dust from entering.
In addition, active cleaning can also prevent pipe blockage in daily life, such as hydraulic flushing (using a high-pressure water gun with a pressure of ≥ 0.5MPa to flush the pipe wall every month), chemical descaling (using citric acid for food lines and 5% dilute hydrochloric acid for industrial lines to soak in a cycle for 2 hours), and mechanical pipe cleaning (using a combination of nylon brush and compressed air to clean stubborn blockages).
